I need beta readers, and if you’ve never heard the term before, a beta reader is a test reader who goes through an unpublished manuscript to help the author figure out what is and isn’t working with the story before the story becomes a published book.
What this entails:
You volunteer to read my books before they are released
You sign an NDA contract
You provide your feedback on a deadline
You receive gratitude gifts from the me and the monsters
What feedback I need:
What did you like most about the book?
What resonated with you most from the book?
What part(s) of the book did you find exciting?
What did you not like about the book?
What part(s) did you find boring?
What part(s) did you find unclear?
What part(s) of the storyline or plot did you find confusing?
What is the book missing?
Where did the book disappoint you?
What would have made the ending more satisfying?
What you don’t have to do:
You do not need to edit my book — this means you don’t have to worry about grammar, sentence structure, or anything else my team of professional editors take care of before publication
What’s in it for you?
Early access to my novels
A chance to influence the final published version
A character named after you in a future story, if you’d like
Book-specific thank you swag
Right now I’m looking for readers my next two novels:
Black Kate and the Sea Witch (a Ceoghast Collection novel)
The Knight’s Seer (a medieval-esque romantasy unrelated to the Ceoghast Collection)
How this works:
Send an email to contact@justusjoseph.com with your interest in being a beta reader
I add you to my potential beta readers list
When a book is ready for beta readers, I email the list with a description of the book that needs beta readers
If you’re interested in being a beta reader for that book, reply to that email saying you want in
I select a few reader readers from the pool of those interested
I send the beta reader NDA contract (it essentially says you can’t share any part of the book with anyone else)
You sign the NDA and send it back
You receive a copy of the manuscript
You provide feedback in a Google document as you read the manuscript
After you’ve read the manuscript and provided feedback, you receive a few gratitude gifts from me and the monsters
If this sounds like an activity you’d like to take on, you can email contact@justusjoseph.com to be added to the Beta Reader list!
With gratitude,
Hi! Your novels sound so fascinating! I have a segment on my substack where I review 5,000 words from anyone's wip manuscript and provide feedback if you have any interest <3
